Columbia Rules Against Viagra

Tuesday, December 30th, 2008

In an unexpected move a judge in the South American country of Colombia has given a ruling that Pfizer the world’s largest drug company should stop selling Viagra in the country. Pfizer immediately said that they will appeal and continue to fight legal battles in Columbia for the right to sell their famous erectile dysfunction drug Viagra.

The court case that goes back over 3 years is related to the fact that a local Colombian company called Lafrancol has been making copies of the Viagra erectile dysfunction medicine called Eroxim. The copy looks exactly like Viagra in that it is diamond shaped and is also blue in colour. The company Lafrancol didn’t take then legal challenge by Pfizer lying down and immediately filed a counter suit arguing that it had a licence and permission from the Colombian medical authorities to sell and market Eroxim as an erectile dysfunction drug for men with impotence and sexual function problems.

Pfizer is still allowed to sell Viagra in Columbia until all legal remedies have been exhausted and will keep on appealing all the way to higher courts. Viagra has had problems with many illegal copies being made of its number one best selling erectile dysfunction medicine especially in parts of the world that have weak legal systems.

Viagra is also battling for its copyright in China and has been making a lot of headway in that regard; nevertheless illegal copies of Viagra are still being made there. The amount of illegal Viagra medication being produced in some parts of the world that is then sold online is huge.

Ukmedix only uses the real Viagra from Pfizer unlike many UK online pharmacies (many of which are not actually based in the UK and are illegal), which sell fake Viagra. Viagra is easily the most plagiarized drug in the world.

The Viagra Revolution

Monday, December 15th, 2008

Viagra the erectile dysfunction drug has caused a revolution in the way that impotence is treated and in how it is perceived. In fact before the launch of Viagra in 1998 very few people actually knew what the words erectile dysfunction meant and normally the word impotence was used to describe men who could not perform sexually.

Before Viagra an impotent man may well have considered that the embarassment of admitting his impotence was worse than living without sex and therefore would have just kept quiet and lived a life of loneliness. The fact that erectile dysfunction is so widely talked about now, not just in medical circles, has removed much of the stigma and embarassment surrounding the condition. Helath professionals and doctors are constantly preaching the message that erectile dysfunction is just a simple medical condition and nothing more and this helps men pluck up the courage to go and see a doctor and to get help.

The launch of Viagra also paved the way for the other erectile dysfunction drugs Cialis and Levitra and made the pharmaceutical industry sit up and realise the extent of the erectile dysfunction problem and exactly how profitable erectile dysfunction cures could be. Viagra has definitely saved thousands of relationships and marriages and given the older generation a new lease of life and more fufilling sex lives.

In day pre Viagra, often the only hope for an impotent man way the use of a penile injection or a penile pump. It took a brave man to go and see his doctor in those days and an even braver one to inject his penis or have surgery for a erectile pump. The magic of making love would invariably be destroyed for the women on seeing her man injecting himself in the penis before he could get aroused. Sex for a woman is a very emotional thing and the erectile dysfunction could have more of a negative effect on the confidence of the women than on the confidence of the man in a sexual relationship.

Some people even joke that Viagra is a mental health drug as it can restore confidence and self esteem so easily and painlessly. The women often doesn’t have to know that her partner is taking Viagra and may just think that she is extra attractive to her man. A clever man won’t tell his partner anything about the Viagra and while she might suspect something, a clever woman won’t ask questions.

Viagra has been shown to work in not just physical types of erectile dysfunction but also with the psychological forms of the condition which account for about 20% of all cases. Some doctors say that the psychological form of erectile dysfunction (caused by performance anxiety, stress and depression) is the more difficult one to treat but very often the man gets an erection before the Viagra starts to work just because of the mental knowledge that he has taken the famous erectile dysfunction pill and this alone can restore the man’s sexual confidence and function.

The world will never really know to what extent things are different because of Viagra, but one thing is for sure, that Viagra started a revolution in the bedroom, in relationships, in the pharmaceutical industry and only a few people can say today that their lives have not been touched or changed due to the magical properties of the world’s number 1 erectile dysfunction drug Viagra. When people discuss great inventions such as electricity and the internet and argue for the importance of each one, very often Viagra makes it close to to the top of the list of the world’s most important and life changing inventions.

Viagra In More Heart Trials

Sunday, December 7th, 2008

We have learnt of new research conducted by John Hopkins scientists who can how that the erectile dysfunction medicine Viagra will reduce the negative effects of hormone stress in the heart by 50%. This research adds to previous studies done on the Viagra effect on the heart which showed for example the beneficial effects of Viagra in curing hypertension.

Viagra is being touted as a heart drug more and more as more testing is done and this latest research showed that sildenafil citrate (Viagra) softens the an over active heartbeat that is the result of stress and relaxes the heart in order for the blood flow to return to normal levels.

The leading researcher in this study described the Viagra’s action as being like a brake on the heart by opening the blood vessels and claimed that this study was the first to conclusively prove that Viagra can act directly on the heart and cardio function in humans. This confirms pervious research that has already been done on mice with Viagra which showed the same results on preventing stress to the heart.

The John Hopkins research team also claims to have shown how Viagra stops the harm done to the heart by long term excess blood pressure levels. The study also interestingly shows that Viagra can effect cardio function when the heart is subject to stress but not when the heart is functioning normally. The research team also said that Viagra could even reverse the bad effects of a heart muscle which has been weakened by hypertrophy.

The John Hopkins Team is still researching the effects of Viagra on the heart so that a complete database of facts will be available before Viagra is seriously used for treatment of cardio problems.

The Viagra drugs efficacy as an erectile dysfunction drug is undisputed, now whether it will become the world no.1 heart drug remains to be seen.
